A map is an argument.
Every border, road and city on a map is there for a reason. Causeway Atlas tells the story behind one of those reasons in each video: what happened, why it happened there, and why it still shapes the world today.
Prof. Mercer
“I draw the maps, you ask the questions.”
Professor Mercer is a fictional geographer with a satchel full of maps and very little patience for borders that make no sense. He walks you through each one: where the river runs, why the line bends, who built the road and why there.
He is an animated character voiced with AI. Every script is researched, written and reviewed by a person, and every figure is checked against its sources before a video goes out.

How we work
- We start with a question, not a date: why is this place empty, why does this border bend, why did this empire stop here?
- Every figure has at least two sources, listed in the video description and on the video's page here.
- Our maps are drawn from real geographic data in one consistent style, so you can compare them across videos.
- Prof. Mercer is a fictional, animated narrator. His voice is generated with AI, and we use AI tools to help with research, illustration and editing.
- Editorial review: every script and article is fact-checked and approved by an editor at Aerys Solution before it is published. Each video page says who reviewed it and how it was made.
- We avoid fear-driven titles. If a thumbnail promises something, the video delivers it in the first minute.
